Privacy

Both apps are designed to need almost nothing from you, and to keep what you give them somewhere you already own. Neither has an account to create, and neither sends your work to a server we operate — there is no server we operate.

Focused Reminders

Your data stays in your iCloud

Your categories, projects, and side reminders are stored in your own iCloud private database using Apple's CloudKit. They sync between your iPhone, iPad, and Mac through Apple's infrastructure. They are never sent to a server we operate. There is no Focal Three account to create.

Calendar and Reminders

Focal Three uses Calendar and Reminders to show today's small commitments beside your three main priorities. Your calendar and reminders stay on your device unless you enable sync or export. The app asks for access through Apple's EventKit permission prompts, and only reads what it needs to render today's view.

TRMNL export

If you enable the TRMNL e-ink export, the app sends a rendered PNG image directly from your device to the private webhook URL you provide. The image contains the priorities and notes you have chosen to display. The webhook URL is stored locally in app settings. We do not see your webhook URL and we do not proxy the upload.

Analytics

Focal Three does not include third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking. The app does not phone home.

Focal Three Plans

Your plans live in a store you choose

A plan is ordinary files — markdown, JSON and images — kept in a store you control: a git repository on your own GitHub account, a folder on your own Google Drive, or a folder on your own Mac. The app reads and writes that store directly. Your plans are never copied to infrastructure we run, because we run none.

Credentials

To reach a GitHub repository the app needs a personal access token that you create and can revoke at any time. It is held in the system Keychain rather than in app settings or a file, and shared to your other devices through iCloud Keychain so you type it once — which means it travels through Apple's encrypted store and not through us. We never see it.

Files outside the app

On macOS the app is sandboxed and can reach only its own storage plus folders you have granted it, one at a time, through the standard system file picker. Granting a folder is what lets you import a document, a set of images or a website into a plan. Every grant is listed in Settings under Folder access, and can be withdrawn there.

Working with an assistant

On macOS only, the app can make a plan available to a coding assistant running on the same computer. That connection listens on your own machine, is not reachable from the network, and requires a token the app generates. The iPhone and iPad versions do not run it at all. Whatever the assistant changes is written to your store as ordinary commits you can read and undo. If you use an assistant, its own terms govern what it does with the text you give it — that is a separate product from this one.

Analytics

Focal Three Plans contains no third-party analytics, no advertising identifier and no tracking. It makes no network request except to the store you pointed it at.
